Procedures for International Spectators’ Entry into Japan

* While currently entry into Japan from abroad is denied in principle, the Government of Japan is considering permitting international spectators to enter Japan on an exempted basis with a special Visa to be granted upon satisfaction of certain conditions. At this stage, it is likely that the following two items will be required to be submitted when applying for the special Visa (although details about requirements relating to the Visa application are yet to be determined as described in the interim summary cited above and are subject to change):

  1. A) the number individually assigned to the Visa applicant (each of unique numbers which are expected to be provided by Tokyo 2020 to respective clients in due course); and
  2. B) a written notification (in a standardized format) certifying that the relevant client has transferred the Games ticket to the Visa applicant

* To support such submission by end-users for the Visa application, clients are expected to provide additional services which would include, among other things, providing the foregoing two items individually to their own end-users.

Maximum Number of Spectators

* As described in the interim summary cited above, the final decision on the maximum number of spectators will be made by the Government of Japan by next spring.

* If a reduction in the maximum number of spectators is enforced, (i) a refund will be provided for those tickets for which an opportunity to spectate the Games cannot be provided by Tokyo 2020 and (ii) all the tickets will be distributed to respective clients digitally instead of the planned distribution in paper format.
